Splashing boiling water on colleague: sentence upheld

Manama

An African domestic servant convicted of pouring boiled water on her colleague's face due to personal disputes had her one-year imprisonment upheld.

The 30-year-old victim was admitted to hospital with first-degree burn on her face, neck and back and second-degree burns on her chest.

The 23-year-old accused reportedly attacked the victim after the latter insulted her in the kitchen while they were preparing food.

"I was cooking food, and she (the victim) insulted me before everyone for overcooking food," the accused told prosecutors after she was arrested.

The incident took place on February 4, and the accused was charged with assault.

The convicted woman was ordered to be deported on completion of her jail term.
