‘Jeans For Refugees’ on show at Moda Mall

Manama : A collection of Johny Dars ‘Jeans For Refugees’ were exhibited at the Moda Mall jewellery court yesterday.

They are open for public-viewing till the 30th of June. Many well known celebrities, including several A-List actors such as Hrithik Roshan, Sharon Stone, Ryan Gosling, Julianne Moore, Sir Elton John etc have donated their jeans for the cause. They’ve been personalized by Johny Dar by personally hand-painting them, fitting it to the celebrity’s personality with his abstract paintings. These jeans are then auctioned off with all the profits going to The International Rescue Committee which will help the refugees fleeing from over 30 terror stricken countries.

These jeans have been previously showcased in Milan, Berlin, New York and London.

Bahrain is the first of the GCC countries to host the “Jeans For Refugees” exhibition as well as the live auction to take place at the Art Rotana hotel on the 1 st of July. Though afairly young initiative, many encouraging approval have been received for the cause said Kashi Money who was Dar’s spokesperson for the event. She hopes the “Gulf audience would be inspired to support this worthy cause by participating in ‘Jeans For Refugees’ and shopping the jeans online.”

She spoke about the vision and work that the organization follows concluding by stating Johny Dar himself “…because by coming together for a common cause, great change is possible.”

A charity fund-raiser initiated by Johny Dar for supporting refugees worldwide, in his own unique way brings forth the birth of “Jeans For Refugees“in 2016.

More than a 100 celebrities who have received wide acknowledgment in the field of fashion, art, design, music, sports, have joined hands together to promote this event which has been never done before.

Each of Johnys work of art is an imaginative expression speaking of th  dynamic individual identity that the owners of these pants had possessed.

This one of a kind initiative can speak volumes for a solid outpour of support it has received this philanthropic cause, bringing more attention and at last more help to the individuals who are enduring the present outcast emergency.

Johny Dar is an artist and designer who use fashion, multimedia and music as a platform to showcase his artistic expression. Dar’s work has successfully reached a global audience and it has earned international acclaim. These jeans are one such expression, a means through which to spread a message, to create a positive change and to empower people to work towards a common goal. He specifically personalizes each jean by using fabric paint, not an easy task.

“Jeans For Refugees started as a humble dream of wanting to make a difference through what I can do, on a personal level, which is painting those jeans - and the rest was only possible through the generous souls that have contributed to this project. I am honoured and humbled to be a part of this, and grateful to everyone who is supporting this initiative,” says Johny Dar
