Asian Parliamentary Association meeting begins
Manama : Bahrain yesterday kick started the standing committee meeting of the Asian Parliamentary Association on economic and sustainable development.
The two-day conference was inaugurated by House of Representatives Speaker Ahmed Al Mulla at the Diplomat Radisson Blu Hotel.
“In this meeting, we seek to adopt advanced legislations, initiatives and intelligent solutions to support the Sustainable Development Goals (SDG) adopted by the United Nations Summit in September 2015 and the Declaration of the Inter-Parliamentary Union at its 132nd meeting,” said Al Mulla in his opening remarks.
In this regard, Al Mulla also praised the Indonesian Parliament’s initiative to establish a special parliamentary committee on SDGs.
“The meeting will discuss issues of great importance to the Asian continent in light of the extraordinary economic challenges the world is witnessing.”
