Bahrain clinches 15 medals in UAE

ManamaBahrain national team clinched 15 medals in the First West Asian Paralympic Games hosted by the UAE and made a strong impact at the games and won five gold, three silver and seven bronze amidst fierce competition with other West Asian nations.

Yesterday, the team was given a special welcome on its return by high-ranking officials from the Bahrain Olympic Committee and the Bahrain Sports Federation for Disabilities.

Supreme Council for Youth and Sports deputy Secretary-General, Bahrain Olympic Committee (BOC) board member and Women’s Sport Committee chairwoman Shaikha Hayat bint Abdulaziz Al Khalifa, along with Bahrain Sports Federation for Disabilities president Shaikh Mohammed bin Daij Al Khalifa and other senior officials congratulated members of the team on arrival.

In an official statement, Shaikha Hayat said that what the team has accomplished in this event brought great pride for all Bahrainis, and commended the outstanding performance of the Bahraini athletes in this event.

Shaikh Mohammed also expressed pride for this first-of-its-kind achievement won in different competitions.
