GPIC bags top awards

ManamaThe Gulf Petrochemical Industries Company (GPIC) Board of Directors presented the top awards it won during the Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Business Awards 2016 in Dubai last week to Oil Minister Shaikh Mohammed bin Khalifa bin Ahmed Al Khalifa.

The Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Business Award and the Award for Creative Business were presented to the Minister in a ceremony attended by Electricity and Water Affairs Minister Dr. Abdulhussain bin Ali Mirza and National Oil and Gas Authority (NOGA) Secretary General H.E. Dr. Ahmed Al Sharyan and GPIC President Dr. Abdulrahman Jawahery.

The Minister praised GPIC efforts in applying the latest work systems in the oil and gas industry and said the Company represents a successful joint venture between Bahrain, Saudi Arabia and Kuwait.

In his comments, Dr. Al Sharyan said  the subsidies provided by the Government of Bahrain and the excellent environment for it to operate in along with investment opportunities spur many international companies to set up their own development projects.

In a statement, GPIC President Dr. Abdulrahman Jawahery thanked the Minister of Oil for following up on the Company’s development and said it had become one of the largest and most successful industrial companies today by adopting an industrial diversification policy. 

“The Company would continue to support the national economy and play an active role in realising Bahrain’s 2030 Economic Vision in the areas of human, social, economic and environmental development. GPIC is actively equipping the Bahraini workforce to handle large industrial projects,”Dr Jawahery said.

The award ceremony was held on February 20 in the presence of a large number of business leaders in the region and the top officials of large companies. The award was launched by the Dubai Chamber of Commerce and Industry and is considered one of the most distinguished in corporate performance in the GCC.
