Cop’s murder: Al Ashtar owns up responsibility

Manama : A terrorist group, backed by Iran and known as Al Ashtar Brigades has claimed the responsibility for the murder of police officer First Lieutenant Hisham Al Hammadi yesterday, stating that it’s to avenge the death of three cop killers who were executed on January 15.

DT News had reported earlier that the group, which surfaced in mid 2013, is responsible for several deadly terrorist attacks that killed and injured many policemen and civilians in the past few years.

Several Al Ashtar Brigades’ members have confessed during investigations that they had received military training on carrying out attacks against security forces and explosives’ manufacturing from the Iranian Revolutionary Guard and Hezbollah terrorist organisation in Iraq and Lebanon.

Interior Ministry had also revealed earlier that these processes were arranged by terrorist networks led by wanted individuals residing in Iran and Iraq.

This is the second policeman being killed by terrorists in Bahrain this year. Earlier this month, ten convicts escaped after killing a guard in Jau prison. The escaped convicts were involved in terrorism related cases and some of them were members of the same infamous group that planned yesterday’s attack.
