Buhair residents grouse about dust, intruders
Manama : Heavy trucks overloaded with sand are damaging the streets of Buhair, while leaving a trail of dust in the area, complains residents near the Buhair land reclamation sites. Vehicles plying with unsecured loads have been cited as the reason for this predicament.
A resident, who requested anonymity, spoke to DT News, “These trucks are nearly overloaded and their loads are usually not covered with canvas sheets. As a result, soil and stones easily fall off the trucks and they disperse into the air. We have to keep our doors and windows closed almost all the time to avoid the dust. We request authorities to give proper guidance to the drivers, who transport excavated mud from the site.”
Residents also raised concerns about illegal gathering at night in the open area near the Buhair land reclamation sites.
Several cars are seen parked during night, with people gathering illegally and creating a ruckus.
DT News asked residents about their perceptions of the problem of vandalism in these sites. “There are anti-social gatherings in this area during night hours. Lack of proper inspections is leading to a rise in vandalism here,” says Samad Al Khaja (name changed).
DT News also observed that access towards the reclamation site is quite easy for anyone because the monitoring and safety guard booth at the entrance is not functioning now.
It is also noted that the place does not have post signs stating the preference of accessibility, and preventing intruders.
DT News has communicated with officials of the Ministry of Works officials in this regard and a response is anticipated very soon.
