Victorious eyeing qualifier

ManamaThe second round of Nasser 9 Ramadan Football Tournament’s group stage kicks off today with two matches taking place as part of Group 1.

The day will start with a face-off  Nomas and Suqoor Al Bahrain at 9am, followed by a match pitting group leaders Victorious against Al Ameed at 11:15am. The matches are being held at Khalifa Sports City Football Stadium.

Title hopefuls Victorious will be looking to secure their qualification to the next round against the Nomas. Al Ameed, on the other hand, is jointly in the second place with Suqoor Al Bahrain, as both teams drew the first round.

They will be looking for a win against Victorious in a bid to bolster their own chances of qualifying. In the first game between Suqoor Al Bahrain and Nomas, the latter is eyeing to revive their hopes of progressing after the loss against Victorious.

Man of the match award

The committee tasked with handpicking the best players of the games in Nasser 9 Football Tournament awarded Al Fakhar’s player Mahdi Humaidan for his great performance against Al Wehda.

The committee also presented Galacticos’ player Abdullah Salim with the same for his showing against Ahlam Batelco.

 

Shaikh Mohammed accepts  

honorary Presidential post

Gunners United received the approval of HH Shaikh Mohammed bin Salman Al Khalifa on their request to become the Honorary President of the team. 

This came during her visit to preview the team’s preparations. 

Gunners United Captain Shaikh Khalid bin Salman Al Khalifa praised Shaikh Mohammed’s positive response, affirming that it will cement their motivation to win the title of this highly-regarded tournament. 

Defending Champions win 5 goal thriller!

Defending champions of Nasser 9 Ramadan Football Tournament, Al Fakhar won a five goal thriller against Al Wehda and are now on top of Group 2. 

Al Fakhar found themselves trailing 1-0 after 14 minutes of play into the first half when Hussain Al Qassab scored for Al Wehda. But in the second half of the game they equalised and took were in the lead with 2-1 thanks to goals from Mahdi Abduljabar. The defending champions lost their lead again, but then Ali Sayyed Hani jumped to their rescue, scoring in the 85th minute.

 

Al Wehda takes the lead

Al Wehda team got off a great start with a goal from Hussain Al Qassab who scored after a sublime solo effort. Al Fakhar, on the other hand, thought they equalised the score in the first-half, but were denied the opportunity as the opposing team’s goalkeeper made a great save on Mahdi Humaidan’s close range shot. 

After the half time break, Al Fakhar continued their attack and pushing forward, and immediately broke the solid defence of Al Wehda thanks to Mahdi Abduljabar.
