Bahrain Polytechnic students showcase design portfolios

ManamaBahrain Polytechnic students pioneered in their exclusive Behance Portfolio Review event in Bahrain, which commenced this week. The event is being organised by Bachelor of Visual Design final year students with the support of Behance at Hall 12 on Bahrain Polytechnic’s campus.

The Review is a concept to offer final year students and aspiring creative professionals an opportunity to pitch their creative design portfolios to Bahrain’s professional design and creative industry.

Such events are held annually in hundreds of cities internationally, including London, Berlin, New York, Paris and Dubai.

Sixteen aspiring profes-sionals showcased their projects and portfolios to the crowd. 

The participants were Asmaa Alowd, Eman Abbas, Eman Busharar, Eman Shaker, Ena’am Al Sammak, Huda Al Madhoob, Jenan Mohamedi, Khadija Hasan, Latifa Juma, Maha Al Marzooq, Masooma Dhaif, Miral Rizq, Mooza Al Buflasa, Sarah Mohammed, Yusuf Al Qattan and Zahra Isa.

Graphic designer Jenan Mohamedi said, “My project is aimed at showing people that mental illness should be taken more seriously. I made this booklet to show people the symptoms of mental disorders and I’ve approached and interviewed doctors about the stigma surrounding this.”

Photographer Ena’am Al Sammak said, “This event has definitely benefitted me in terms of networking and creating something before I graduate.”

The event featured four key speakers: Saudi studio artist Ramah Al Husseini, Bahraini artist and Interior Designer Mustafa Halwachi, Bahraini fashion photographer Ali Sharif and Co-founder of 4SPOTS Strusti Ranjan.

During their speeches, all the speakers thoroughly inspired the aspiring talents to continue developing their skills. 

A performance by Majaz band followed the speeches by the invited guests. The attendees included designers, industry experts, students and employers.
