Bahrain man jailed for throwing shoes at judges
Manama: The High Criminal Court has sentenced a suspected terrorist with one-year imprisonment after he threw a slipper at the judges.
The Bahraini penal law criminalises assault on judges during a court hearing, allowing the bench to issue instant jail terms against the culprits.
Ironically, the slipper hit the defendant’s female lawyer while she was defending him.
He was sentenced based on article 224 from the local penal law. The defendant was already implicated in connection with a terror case.
