Pakistan Independence Day marked with flag-hoisting ceremony in Bahrain

The Embassy of Pakistan in Bahrain held a flag-hoisting ceremony in Manama yesterday to mark  Independence Day, bringing together Ambassador Saqib Rauf and members of the Pakistani community in the Kingdom.

Ambassador Rauf hoisted the national flag during the ceremony and extended his greetings to the Pakistani community in Bahrain, recalling the sacrifices and determination that led to Pakistan's creation.

He said Independence Day serves as a reminder of the historic struggle for a homeland where people could live with freedom, honour and dignity, stressing the responsibility to protect and build the country.

The Ambassador also highlighted Pakistan’s commitment to peace and dialogue amid regional challenges, saying his country considers war detrimental to the interests of countries in the region and beyond. He stressed that dialogue and diplomacy remain the most effective means of resolving conflicts and addressing longstanding disputes.

Rauf called for greater international cooperation to address common global challenges, particularly climate change, poverty and terrorism, saying mutual respect and collective action are essential for a more peaceful and prosperous world.

He also praised the contribution of overseas Pakistanis, noting their role in strengthening Pakistan’s ties with their host countries through their hard work, integrity and commitment.

Highlighting the close Bahrain-Pakistan relationship, the Ambassador said Bahrain is home to more than 100,000 Pakistanis who consider the Kingdom their home. He expressed gratitude to Bahrain for the safety, shelter and support extended to the Pakistani community during the recent crisis, describing it as a reflection of the deep bonds between the two countries.

Rauf conveyed appreciation to His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa, His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, and the government and people of Bahrain for their continued friendship and support for Pakistan and its people.

Meanwhile, Pakistan Club in Manama organised a separate celebration to mark Independence Day.

Club Chairman Mohammed Afzal Bhatti congratulated Pakistanis in Bahrain and around the world, recalling the sacrifices made for the country’s freedom and calling for unity and collective efforts towards a stronger Pakistan.

Pakistan Club General Secretary Samiur Rahmad extended Independence Day greetings to Pakistanis, particularly those living in Bahrain, and wished the country continued strength and prosperity.
