Tailor Faces Drug Trafficking Trial
A tailor is standing trial after being accused of becoming involved in a drug trafficking operation, according to court documents.
The case began after police received information from confidential sources that drugs were being distributed in a specific area using the "dead drop" method, in which narcotics are hidden at a location for others to collect. Security authorities subsequently launched surveillance and investigative operations.
During an evening operation, officers observed the suspect behaving suspiciously and attempting to hide an item on the roadside. Police approached him, identified themselves, and the suspect cooperated with them.
The concealed item was found to be a glass container holding a liquid suspected to be a narcotic, weighing approximately 41.70 grams. A search of the suspect also uncovered a bag containing 29 containers filled with the same suspected substance, with a total weight of approximately 413.52 grams.
Investigations indicated that the case was linked to an organised network involved in smuggling narcotic drugs and psychotropic substances into Bahrain for trafficking. Investigators determined the suspect's role was to receive, store, divide and distribute the drugs in exchange for money.
The High Criminal Court has scheduled August 11 to deliver its verdict in the case.
