MPs Hail Press Award
Lawmakers welcomed the Prime Minister’s Press Award 2026, describing it as a reflection of the Kingdom’s support for journalism and the media's vital role in public life.
MP Maryam Al Sayegh said the award demonstrated the high value placed on newspapers, journalists and media professionals, while reflecting the leadership’s commitment to developing the sector. She credited His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa’s support for free and responsible journalism with helping create an open environment based on dialogue and transparency.
Al Sayegh also praised His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, Crown Prince and Prime Minister, for backing Bahraini journalism and encouraging the media to contribute to the Kingdom’s development. She said the award recognised journalism’s role in serving the public, raising important issues and promoting constructive discussion.
She thanked Information Minister Dr Ramzan bin Abdullah Al Noaimi, the Bahrain Journalists Association and the National Communication Centre for supporting the media and strengthening public trust. Congratulating the winners, she said the award would inspire journalists to pursue higher standards and professional excellence.
MP Waleed Al Doseri said the leadership’s support for journalists and responsible free expression strengthened the media’s ability to report professionally while respecting the law. He said the award encouraged journalists to improve their work, adapt to changing media trends and address issues affecting Bahrain and its people.
Al Doseri also thanked Dr Al Noaimi, the Bahrain Journalists Association and the National Communication Centre for their efforts to raise professional standards and strengthen communication between public institutions and the community. He congratulated the winners, describing the award as an incentive for continued excellence in Bahraini journalism.
