HRH Crown Prince Praises Bahraini Youth Driving Innovation and Entrepreneurship
His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, Crown Prince and Prime Minister, has reaffirmed Bahrain’s commitment to nurturing innovation, entrepreneurship and national talent as key drivers of economic development and future growth.
His Royal Highness made the remarks during a meeting at Riffa Palace with the winning teams of the Startup Bahrain–University of Bahrain Competition, a national initiative supporting Bahraini startups with the backing of the Labour Fund (Tamkeen).
The Res-Q team won first place, followed by Loop in second and Durra in third. His Royal Highness congratulated the winning teams and wished them continued success as they develop their ideas and transform them into promising ventures.
Prince Salman highlighted the Kingdom’s continued efforts to create quality opportunities for Bahraini citizens and provide young people with the tools and support needed to turn their ambitions and innovative ideas into successful projects that contribute to the national economy.
His Royal Highness praised the achievements of Bahrain’s citizens across various fields, noting that the accomplishments of the Kingdom’s youth reflect their creativity, ambition and determination. He emphasised that the success of young Bahrainis demonstrates the strength of the country’s national talent and its ability to contribute to the Kingdom’s long-term aspirations.
The Crown Prince also commended Tamkeen’s efforts to strengthen national capabilities and expand opportunities for entrepreneurs. Such initiatives, he noted, play an important role in encouraging young Bahrainis to establish and grow businesses while supporting Bahrain’s goal of building a more diversified and competitive economy.
His Royal Highness praised all participants for presenting innovative projects aimed at addressing different challenges through creative and forward-looking solutions. He also recognised the organisers for creating a platform where students and aspiring entrepreneurs can gain practical experience and develop their ideas within a supportive business environment.
The importance of connecting education with labour-market requirements was also highlighted during the meeting. Prince Salman commended the efforts of the Ministry of Education and the University of Bahrain in developing initiatives that equip students with skills relevant to the evolving needs of the economy.
He further expressed appreciation to the competition’s partners, including the Bahrain Economic Development Board, Ministry of Industry and Commerce, University of Bahrain and StartUp Bahrain, for their contribution to strengthening the Kingdom’s entrepreneurship ecosystem.
His Royal Highness highlighted the progress made by StartUp Bahrain since its launch in 2013, noting its contribution to helping Bahraini startups establish themselves, expand their operations and compete in wider markets. He stressed the importance of continuing to strengthen cooperation between the public and private sectors to create new opportunities for entrepreneurs.
Prince Salman noted that a strong entrepreneurship ecosystem can further enhance Bahrain’s position as a hub for innovation, investment and promising startups, while enabling emerging businesses to grow, scale and contribute more effectively to economic development.
The winning teams expressed their appreciation for His Royal Highness’s continued support for young Bahraini talent and entrepreneurs. They described the meeting as an encouraging milestone and a strong motivation to continue developing their projects and pursuing further achievements.
The meeting was attended by senior officials, including His Highness Shaikh Isa bin Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, Minister of the Prime Minister’s Court and Chairman of Tamkeen’s Board of Directors; His Excellency Shaikh Salman bin Khalifa Al Khalifa, Minister of Finance and National Economy; His Excellency Hamad bin Faisal Al Maliki, Minister of Cabinet Affairs; and His Excellency Dr Mohammed bin Mubarak Juma, Minister of Education and Chairman of the University of Bahrain Board of Trustees.
