The Ministry of Works has been directed to study the expansion of Al Mazare' Street in Jasra to improve traffic safety and address growing congestion concerns.
The directive was issued by the Ministerial Committee for Development Projects and Infrastructure, which reviewed several government development projects and service performance indicators.
Northern Municipal Council member Mohammed Saad Al Doseri welcomed the decision, saying the move reflects continued efforts to enhance Bahrain’s road network and upgrade infrastructure to meet current and future needs.
He said residents had previously raised concerns over traffic congestion and repeated accidents on Al Mazare' Street, calling for the road to be expanded to two lanes.
Al Doseri said the proposed expansion would help improve traffic movement, reduce congestion and increase safety for road users, particularly as the area continues to experience urban growth.
He also praised the follow-up and support of Deputy Prime Minister Shaikh Khalid bin Abdulla Al Khalifa for development and service projects across the Kingdom.
Meanwhile, the committee noted progress in Bahrain’s tree-planting programme, with 15 percent of this year’s target completed by the end of May.
