GCC Foreign Ministers Meet in New York on Regional Security

GCC foreign ministers met in New York to coordinate positions on regional developments, security challenges and issues to be raised during the 81st session of the United Nations General Assembly.

The GCC Ministerial Council Coordination Meeting was held at the Permanent Mission of the Kingdom of Bahrain to the United Nations and was chaired by Dr. Abdullatif bin Rashid Al Zayani, Minister of Foreign Affairs and Chairman of the current session of the GCC Ministerial Council.

The meeting brought together GCC foreign ministers and Jassem Mohamed Albudaiwi, Secretary-General of the Gulf Cooperation Council.

The ministers reviewed the meeting’s agenda and preparations for the GCC’s joint ministerial meetings with a number of countries and international groupings during the UN General Assembly.

They also discussed the latest regional developments and their impact on security and stability, along with areas for greater GCC cooperation and coordination in addressing current challenges.

The meeting was attended by Ambassador Jamal Faris Al Rowai, Permanent Representative of Bahrain to the United Nations in New York; Ambassador Shaikh Abdullah bin Ali Al Khalifa, Director-General of Bilateral Relations; Ambassador Saeed Abdulkhaliq Saeed, Chief of the Coordination and Follow-up Sector at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs; and the accompanying delegation of the Foreign Minister.
