70 Properties Face Notices

Muharraq Municipality continues inspections of properties used as unregistered collective accommodation.

More than 70 properties in Muharraq have received notices this year after inspections found them being used as shared collective housing without meeting the required conditions.

Muharraq Municipality Director General Khalid Al Qallaf said field inspections are continuing, requiring property owners to meet health, security, safety and technical requirements before using buildings for shared accommodation.

Registration requires documents from tenants and property owners, along with approvals from relevant authorities, including the Ministry of Health, the General Directorate of Civil Defence and the Electricity and Water Authority. Owners must also coordinate with the municipality before using properties for this purpose.

The municipality can take legal action against violations and request the Electricity and Water Authority to disconnect electricity and water services from an unregistered collective housing property until the required conditions are met. Inspections will continue in residential areas in coordination with the relevant authorities.
