GCC-EU Review Strait Of Hormuz Risks

The European Union High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy, Kaja Kallas, received the ambassadors of the Gulf Cooperation Council member states to the European Union in Brussels.
The meeting was chaired on the GCC side by Dr. Mohammed Ali Behzad, Ambassador of the Kingdom of Bahrain to Belgium and Head of Bahrain’s Mission to the EU, representing the current GCC presidency.
Discussions focused on recent regional security developments, including the Iranian attacks against Bahrain and other GCC member states. The talks also addressed growing concerns over developments in the Strait of Hormuz and their impact on freedom of navigation and broader international maritime security.
Both sides emphasized the importance of strengthening GCC–EU coordination on diplomatic and security matters, with the aim of supporting regional stability and advancing shared strategic interests.
The two delegations also reviewed the overall progress of GCC–EU relations, upcoming joint engagements, and wider regional and international issues of mutual concern as part of ongoing political consultation and coordination mechanisms.
High Representative Kaja Kallas reaffirmed the European Union’s solidarity with Bahrain and other GCC states, condemning the recent attacks attributed to Iran.
In a separate engagement, the Ambassador of Bahrain to Belgium, Dr. Mohammed Ali Behzad, met with the President of the Wallonia Region of Belgium, Adrien Dolimont, at the regional government headquarters.
The meeting reviewed the growing bilateral relations between Bahrain and Belgium, highlighting expanding cooperation in political, economic, commercial, and investment sectors.Both sides discussed opportunities to further develop partnerships and encourage mutual investments that benefit both countries and their peoples, while also exploring new avenues for collaboration in key development areas.
