The Kingdom of Bahrain has strongly condemned a renewed Iranian attack targeting its territory with ballistic missiles and drones, calling for urgent international action to address repeated aggression against its sovereignty and security.
In a statement, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs said the latest attack demonstrates that Iran’s actions are not an isolated incident, but part of a deliberate and systematic pattern of repeated aggression threatening Bahrain’s sovereignty and the safety of citizens and residents.
The ministry recalled Bahrain’s previous condemnation of Iranian attacks and said the latest escalation, on Sunday, June 28, 2026, confirms concerns previously raised regarding Iran’s commitments and its obligations under international efforts aimed at maintaining regional security.
Bahrain said the renewed attack came shortly after Iran had committed, under the Islamabad Memorandum of Understanding signed on June 17, 2026, to a permanent halt of military operations and respect for the sovereignty of countries in the region.
The Foreign Ministry said the repeated violations require a firm international response and called on the United Nations Security Council to hold an urgent session, ensure implementation of its resolution, and take steps to stop what it described as ongoing aggression and hold those responsible accountable.
Bahrain also stressed that the attacks do not only threaten the Kingdom but represent a wider security challenge to the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) region, reaffirming the principle of collective security under the GCC Joint Defence Agreement, which considers any attack against one member state as an attack against all.
The Kingdom affirmed its commitment to Gulf solidarity and shared security, while reiterating its right to defend its sovereignty, security, and territorial integrity in accordance with international law. Bahrain held the Iranian government fully responsible for any further escalation resulting from its actions.
