Bahrain, Mauritania Pledge Deeper Diplomatic Coordination

Bahrain and Mauritania reaffirmed their close bilateral ties on Tuesday during high-level talks in Manama, where both sides discussed strengthening cooperation and enhancing coordination in regional and international forums.
Dr. Abdullatif bin Rashid Al Zayani, Minister of Foreign Affairs received Mohamed Salem Ould Merzoug, envoy of the President of Mauritania at the Foreign Ministry.
The Foreign Minister expressed gratitude for Mauritania’s backing of Bahrain’s position at the United Nations Security Council, particularly its support for Resolution 2817, which Bahrain submitted in response to what it described as Iranian attacks targeting Bahrain, GCC states, and Jordan. He further commended Mauritania’s support for Bahrain’s efforts to safeguard freedom of navigation in the Strait of Hormuz during its non-permanent tenure on the Security Council.
Both ministers reviewed the historical ties binding the two countries and explored avenues for expanding cooperation in economic, trade, and social sectors.
They also emphasized continued consultation and mutual support in international nominations and reinforced coordination in multilateral diplomacy.
