Bahrain Demands Full Compensation from Iran Over “Unlawful Aggression”

The Kingdom of Bahrain has reiterated its demand that the Islamic Republic of Iran provide full compensation for all damages and losses resulting unlawful Iranian aggression, in its eleventh formal communication to the United Nations.

Bahrain’s Permanent Mission to the United Nations in New York submitted identical letters to the UN Secretary-General and the President of the Security Council, continuing a series of official correspondences aimed at informing Council members of what it describes as blatant and illegal attacks carried out by Iran against Bahraini territory.

The letter emphasizes that Iran has continued to disregard UN Security Council Resolution 2817, which determined that Iranian attacks against Bahrain, Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) states, and the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan constitute violations of international law and called for their immediate cessation. According to Bahrain, such attacks have persisted even after the resolution’s adoption, reflecting what it characterizes as a serious breach of both the Council’s authority and Iran’s obligations under international law.

The communication further states that Bahrain’s air defense systems have intercepted 194 ballistic missiles and 523 hostile drones targeting the Kingdom’s airspace, territorial waters, and land since February 28, 2026.

Additionally, Bahrain reported that on March 24, 2026, a Moroccan civilian contractor working with the United Arab Emirates Armed Forces was killed during a routine mission in Bahrain as a result of an Iranian missile strike. On the same day, several members of the Bahrain Defence Force and UAE Armed Forces were reportedly injured while carrying out their duties in response to the attacks.

Bahrain reaffirmed its position that Iran bears full responsibility for these actions and the resulting consequences, and called on the international community to uphold accountability and enforce compliance with international law.
