Bahrain’s Parliamentary Committee is set to brief international parliaments on Iran’s “unjustified and reprehensible” actions targeting Bahrain, Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) states, and Jordan during the 152nd Assembly of the Inter-Parliamentary Union (IPU), scheduled in Istanbul, Turkey, from April 15 to 19.
His Excellency Ahmed bin Salman Al-Musallam, Speaker of the Council of Representatives and Chair of Bahrain’s Parliamentary Committee, emphasized that the delegation will present a draft global parliamentary resolution condemning Iranian aggressions. This initiative follows the UN Human Rights Council’s unanimous decision to denounce attacks on GCC countries and Jordan, responding to Bahrain’s proposal on behalf of its regional partners, and aligns with UN Security Council Resolution 2817.
Al-Musallam described Iran’s acts as “blatant violations of international law and the UN Charter,” stressing the need for a unified international parliamentary stance to counter such hostile measures and safeguard regional stability.
Highlighting Bahrain’s historical commitment to peace, coexistence, and respect for sovereignty, Al-Musallam expressed pride in the support of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa and Crown Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa in ensuring the nation’s security and protecting its achievements.
The coordination meeting, held on Sunday, addressed preparations for the IPU assembly, reviewed agenda topics, and aligned the delegation’s positions on regional and international matters, particularly the Iranian attacks. Al-Musallam underscored the delegation’s intent to highlight the targeting of civilian infrastructure and its threat to regional and international security, calling for firm parliamentary measures to deter aggression.
Bahrain’s participation reflects its long-standing approach of supporting collaborative parliamentary work, fostering dialogue, and promoting cooperation to tackle global challenges and advance peace and security. The assembly’s general session will focus on “Enhancing Security, Preserving Peace, and Ensuring Justice for Future Generations,” with the Bahraini delegation actively engaging in committee meetings and discussions.
