According to authorities, the deceased had been in custody under a legally issued warrant as part of a national security case. Investigations revealed he was facing charges of espionage, including allegedly sharing sensitive information and intelligence with the Iranian Revolutionary Guard Corps concerning critical infrastructure in the Kingdom, with the intent of facilitating potential attacks.

The Ministry also clarified that images being circulated online, which claim to show injuries sustained by the deceased, are false, misleading, and intentionally spread to distort public perception.

The case has now been referred to the Special Investigation Unit under the Public Prosecution, which will carry out a comprehensive and independent inquiry into the circumstances surrounding the injuries and the cause of death.
