President Volodymyr Zelensky has announced a significant defense cooperation agreement between Ukraine and Saudi Arabia, marking a new phase in bilateral relations.

According to Zelensky, the arrangement was signed between the Ukrainian Ministry of Defense and the Saudi Ministry of Defense ahead of his meeting with Mohammed bin Salman Al Saud. The agreement establishes a framework for future defense contracts, technological collaboration, and investment opportunities.

Zelensky emphasized that the partnership will enhance Ukraine’s role on the global stage as a contributor to international security. He noted that Ukraine is prepared to share its expertise and advanced defense systems with Saudi Arabia to strengthen civilian protection.

The Ukrainian leader also drew parallels between ongoing security threats faced by both regions, stating that Ukraine continues to defend against ballistic missile and drone attacks similar to those seen in the Middle East and Gulf.

In addition to defense cooperation, discussions covered broader geopolitical and economic issues, including developments in global energy markets, the situation in the Middle East, and Russia’s ties with Iran. Both sides also explored potential avenues for energy collaboration, signaling a wider strategic alignment beyond defense.
