Thai Cargo Ship Attacked in Strait of Hormuz

PHUKET: A Thai bulk carrier was attacked on Wednesday while sailing through the strategically vital Strait of Hormuz, the Royal Thai Navy has confirmed.
The vessel, identified as the Thai‑flagged bulk carrier Mayuree Naree, was en route through the narrow waterway after departing a port in the United Arab Emirates when the assault occurred, according to an official statement.
So far, 20 of the ship’s crew members have been rescued by the Omani Navy, the statement said. Efforts to locate and save the remaining three sailors are ongoing.
The exact cause and circumstances of the attack are still under investigation, the navy added.
