The Shura Council held its session yesterday via online video systems, with only the Council President and his two deputies present in the session hall at Gudaibiya.

During the smoothly conducted session, the Council approved a draft law amending the regulations governing the practice of human medicine and dentistry. The amendment establishes a legal framework for abortion in two specific cases: if continuing the pregnancy endangers the mother’s life, or if a medical report confirms that the fetus has a severe malformation incompatible with life after birth.

The Council also passed a draft law approving a framework agreement with the Kuwait Fund for Arab Economic Development to help finance the second phase of the Sheikh Jaber Al-Ahmad Street development project.

At the start of the session, Council President Ali bin Saleh Al Saleh delivered a speech emphasizing the nation’s unified stance behind the leadership of His Majesty the King and support for all measures taken by the Kingdom of Bahrain to safeguard national security, preserve sovereignty, and protect the safety of citizens and residents, while retaining the Kingdom’s legal right to respond in accordance with international laws and treaties.

Al Saleh praised the King’s direct and continuous oversight of regional developments, highlighting the leadership’s commitment to enhancing national readiness and ensuring the country’s security and stability. He also commended the guidance and efforts of His Royal Highness Crown Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, Deputy Supreme Commander of the Armed Forces and Prime Minister, in managing the current stage with wisdom, strengthening state readiness, ensuring continuity of essential services, and safeguarding security and stability.

The Council President expressed pride in the Bahrain Defence Force’s successful response to hostile Iranian actions with high efficiency and vigilance. He also lauded the Ministry of Interior and security agencies for maintaining public order and reassuring society, the media system for delivering accurate information and raising awareness, and the coordinated efforts of ministries and institutions in securing vital needs, reflecting the cohesion of the national work system within Team Bahrain.

Al Saleh highlighted that the people of Bahrain have shown exemplary national unity and responsible awareness during these circumstances.
