The Kingdom of Bahrain held extraordinary security consultations on March 5, 2026, with the United States and the United Kingdom under Article II of the Comprehensive Security Integration and Prosperity Agreement (C-SIPA), focusing on the evolving regional security situation.
The consultations brought together Shaikh Nasser bin Hamad Al Khalifa, National Security Advisor and Secretary-General of Bahrain’s Supreme Defence Council, Brad Cooper, Commander of the U.S. Central Command, and Sir Richard Knighton, Chief of the Defence Staff of the United Kingdom. The officials participated as members of the C-SIPA Defence Working Group (DWG).
During the meeting, participants reviewed the current regional security landscape, including what they described as hostile actions by Iran that threaten the security and stability of Bahrain and neighbouring countries.
The officials emphasized the strength of the strategic partnership between the three nations and reaffirmed their shared commitment to working together to address regional security challenges. Discussions also highlighted the role of C-SIPA in strengthening defence cooperation and enhancing collective deterrence against external threats.
Members of the Defence Working Group reiterated their determination to continue coordinating efforts to counter any external aggression that could threaten the sovereignty or territorial integrity of member states.
The consultations reflected the close security ties between the C-SIPA partners and their alignment on measures aimed at safeguarding peace, stability and long-term security across the region.
