Civil court sessions in Bahrain will resume using remote litigation services after a temporary suspension of all court sessions, which was introduced as a precautionary measure during the recent security developments in the Kingdom.

The Ministry of Justice, Islamic Affairs and Endowments, in coordination with the Supreme Judicial Council, had suspended all court sessions from March 1 until March 5 to ensure the safety of employees and litigants amid the evolving situation.

The precautionary decision covered civil and criminal cases as well as Sharia court sessions in Riffa.

During the suspension period, court sessions across different case categories were administratively postponed while the situation was monitored and reassessed.

Following the precautionary pause, the ministry announced that civil court sessions will be conducted through remote litigation services beginning Sunday, March 8.

The service will be available through the ministry’s official website and will allow parties involved in cases to attend court sessions online.

Access to the system will be provided through the upgraded Electronic Key 2.0, enabling biometric authentication through facial recognition.

Electronic court sessions will remain under the full supervision of the presiding judge, with the platform allowing the exchange of documents and the direct presentation of arguments while ensuring that all legal guarantees related to fair trial procedures remain fully preserved.
