Manama: The First High Civil Court has ordered an insurance company and a woman who caused a traffic accident to jointly compensate a 70-year-old woman and her children with BD 8,000, after the victim suffered a permanent disability of 12%.
According to case details presented by lawyer Ibrahim Khalil Al-Suwaidi, the accident occurred due to the driver’s negligence and lack of attention, resulting in a collision that caused serious physical injuries to the elderly woman. The driver was later convicted in a criminal case related to the incident.
Medical reports submitted to the court confirmed that the victim sustained a back injury and a fracture to the first lumbar vertebra, which was treated conservatively but left her with lasting pain and permanent impairment.
The court awarded BD 6,000 in material compensation and BD 1,000 for moral damages to the injured woman. It also granted BD 200 each to her five children for moral damages, bringing the total compensation to BD 8,000.
The court ruled that both the driver and the insurance company are jointly liable for the payment.
