Manama: The Coast Guard seized 712 illegal fishing traps and nets during January 2026, the Ministry of Interior announced, as part of ongoing efforts to protect marine resources.
The Coast Guard Command reported confiscating 684 illegal fishing traps and 28 illegal fishing nets over the month, bringing the total number of seized fishing tools to 712.
Authorities confirmed that all necessary legal measures were taken against the violations. The seizures were carried out under an intensive monitoring campaign aimed at ensuring fishermen comply with relevant laws and regulations, while safeguarding Bahrain’s marine environment and natural resources.
The Coast Guard stressed the importance of adherence to fishing regulations, noting that responsible practices are essential to protecting marine wealth and ensuring its sustainability for future generations.
