Manama: France’s Kyrian Jacquet capped a remarkable week at the Bahrain Open Tennis Challenger 2026 yesterday, defeating Italy’s Luca Nardi 7-5, 3-6, 6-4 in a thrilling singles final at the Police Officers Club in Gudaibiya. The victory, Jacquet’s first of the season, took nearly three hours and was marked by long rallies and tense moments.
The 24-year-old’s run to the title was built on resilience and consistency. He overcame Christopher O’Connell, Yannick Hanfmann, and Jacob Fearnley in earlier rounds, then defeated second seed Mattia Bellucci 6-7, 6-4, 7-6 in a marathon semi-final to reach his seventh Challenger final. Facing Nardi in the final, Jacquet dug deep after dropping the second set to secure the win.
Speaking after his title-win, Jacquet said: “It was amazing to play in front of a crowd like this. Lucas played an amazing week. I’m happy about this win and privileged to have my coach Stéphane by my side. Huge thanks to everyone who made this tournament possible.”
On Saturday, Austria’s Neil Oberleitner and India’s N. Sriram Balaji claimed the doubles crown, beating second seeds Vasil Kirkov and Bart Stevens 7-6(1), 6-4.
The fifth edition of the Bahrain Open, an ATP Challenger 125 event with $225,000 in prize money, has now concluded, reinforcing Bahrain’s reputation as a key stop on the Challenger Tour.
