Bahrain’s Global Role Highlighted During Brazilian Delegation Visit
His Excellency Ahmed bin Salman Al-Musallam, Speaker of the Council of Representatives, highlighted the strong bilateral relations between the Kingdom of Bahrain and the Federative Republic of Brazil, noting their steady development across all fields. He praised the ongoing coordination between the two countries in various developmental sectors, attributing it to the keen attention and guidance of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa and His Excellency President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva of Brazil.
His Excellency emphasized the importance of strengthening parliamentary diplomacy between the two friendly nations and activating the role of the parliamentary friendship group to promote joint projects and programs that serve mutual interests.
He also pointed to the significant outcomes achieved through reciprocal parliamentary visits, particularly the visit of the Bahraini delegation to Brazil in June 2024, which opened broad avenues for cooperation and joint coordination.
The remarks were made during a meeting today, Sunday, between the Speaker of the Council of Representatives and a delegation from the Brazilian Congress, led by Senator Flávio Bolsonaro, Chair of the Senate Security Committee of the Federative Republic of Brazil.
During the meeting, both sides reviewed the close bilateral relations and explored opportunities to enhance cooperation in vital areas, especially parliamentary, economic, and investment sectors, aiming to achieve mutual benefits and meet the aspirations of the peoples of both countries. They also discussed the exchange of expertise and successful experiences in parliamentary work and secretariat sectors, as well as coordination and consultation in international parliamentary forums.
The meeting also reaffirmed the role of foreign policy in both countries and highlighted Bahrain’s recent election as a non-permanent member of the United Nations Security Council for the 2026–2027 term, reflecting the international community’s confidence in Bahrain’s balanced approach and its support for peace and stability in the region, as well as promoting values of coexistence and tolerance worldwide.
Senator Flávio Bolsonaro praised the solid bilateral relations between Brazil and Bahrain and the mutual commitment to deepening cooperation across various sectors, in light of Bahrain’s comprehensive developmental progress under the leadership of His Majesty the King. He also expressed his gratitude to the Speaker for his efforts in supporting and enhancing joint cooperation, particularly in parliamentary affairs with the Brazilian Congress.
The meeting was attended by Second Deputy Speaker Ahmed Abdulwahid Qarata, Chairman of the Honorary Mission Hassan Ibrahim Hassan, members of the Bahraini Friendship Committee with Latin American countries, including MPs Iman Hasan Shweitr, Abdulhakim Mohammed Al-Shenu, Jalal Kazem Hasan, Dr. Ali Majid Al-Naimi, Mohammed Mohammed Al-Rifai, and the Secretary-General of the Council of Representatives, Engineer Mohammed Ibrahim Al-Sisi Al-Buainain.
