Full Moon of Sha’ban 1447 AH to Appear on Monday
Astronomical researcher Mohammed Redha Al Asfour announced that the skies over the Kingdom of Bahrain will witness the full moon of Sha’ban 1447 AH on Monday, February 2, 2026. The event coincides with the “Snow Moon,” the traditional name given to the February full moon.
Al Asfour explained that the Sha’ban full moon will rise from the eastern horizon on Sunday evening, February 1, 2026, at 5:54 pm, illuminating the kingdom’s skies throughout the night. The moon will reach its peak fullness of 100 percent at 1:09 am on Monday, before setting in the west at 6:42 am.
He noted that the occurrence of a full moon during the winter season offers an ideal opportunity for skywatchers and astrophotography enthusiasts, as the weather is generally mild and the skies clearer at this time of year.
Al Asfour also highlighted the importance of identifying the midpoint of the lunar month, as it helps determine the “white days” — the 13th, 14th and 15th of the lunar month — emphasizing the virtues of fasting on these days as mentioned in the Prophetic traditions.
