Edict on labour safety, health

His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Crown Prince and Prime Minister, yesterday issued Edict No. (5) of 2026 amending certain provisions of Edict No. (2) of 2015 concerning the Occupational Safety and Health Council, following a proposal submitted by the Minister of Labour.
The edict replaces Articles (2) and (3) of the 2015 legislation and sets out a revised structure for the council.
Under the amendments, the council will be chaired by the Minister of Labour, with the Assistant Undersecretary for Labour Relations at the Ministry of Labour serving as vice-chairman.
Council membership will include senior representatives from the Ministry of Interior, the Ministry of Oil and Environment, the Ministry of Health, the Civil Service Bureau, and the General Organisation for Social Insurance, in addition to representatives from occupational health and safety bodies and trade union federations.
Two additional members, Abdulwahab Yousif Al Hawaj and Samra Abdulrahim Al Qassir, were also appointed.
