Deputy National Security Adviser Affirms Importance of Diplomacy in Safeguarding National Interests

Manama: Colonel Shaikh Khalid bin Ali bin Jaber Al Khalifa, Deputy National Security Adviser and Deputy Secretary General of the Supreme Defence Council, took part in the eighth edition of the Diplomatic Forum 2026, organised by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in conjunction with Bahrain Diplomatic Day, observed annually on January 14.
The forum was attended by heads of Bahrain’s diplomatic and consular missions abroad, along with senior officials and Ministry of Foreign Affairs representatives.
During his participation, Col. Shaikh Khalid bin Ali affirmed that Bahrain’s national security framework is founded on the vision of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa, the Supreme Commander of the Armed Forces, and guided by the directives of His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Crown Prince, Deputy Supreme Commander of the Armed Forces, and Prime Minister. He also highlighted the efforts of Lieutenant General His Highness Shaikh Nasser bin Hamad Al Khalifa, National Security Adviser, Royal Guard Commander, and Secretary General of the Supreme Defence Council, in further strengthening and developing the Kingdom’s national security system.
He noted that Bahrain Diplomatic Day serves as an important occasion to underscore the close integration between diplomatic action and national security, emphasising that diplomacy is a key pillar in safeguarding the Kingdom’s strategic interests through the building of international partnerships and ensuring coordination among political, defence, and security sectors to enhance security and stability.
Col. Shaikh Khalid bin Ali also underscored the vital role played by Bahrain’s embassies and diplomatic missions abroad in effectively representing the Kingdom, strengthening bilateral relations, clearly conveying national positions, and monitoring regional and international developments. He further stressed the importance of enhancing coordination and unified efforts among all diplomatic missions to maximise the effectiveness of diplomatic work in supporting decision-making and advancing Bahrain’s interests and standing at the international level.
