The Bahrain Cricket Federation (BCF) hosted the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup Trophy Unveiling Gala night at the Crowne Plaza Hotel, marking a landmark moment for cricket in the Kingdom. The prestigious event was held as part of the DP World ICC Men’s T20 World Cup Trophy Tour, currently taking place across Bahrain.

Sri Lankan cricket legend Angelo Mathews attended the gala as the guest of honour, adding international stature to the occasion. Mathews, who captained Sri Lanka in all three formats, was warmly welcomed by officials, players, and members of Bahrain’s rapidly growing cricket community.

Speaking to the Daily Tribune, Mathews praised Bahrain’s cricket journey, describing the Trophy Tour as a significant initiative for the sport in the Kingdom. He said his visit to Bahrain was a special moment in his career.“This is a great initiative for cricket, and being in Bahrain for the first time has been one of the best moments in my journey,” Mathews said.

He added that bringing the World Cup trophy to the Kingdom sends a powerful message about Bahrain’s ambitions in international sport.

Addressing the gathering, Mohammad Mansoor, Chairman of the Bahrain Cricket Federation, said the arrival of the trophy represents more than a celebration, calling it a clear statement of intent. He highlighted BCF’s vision of building a complete cricket ecosystem — from schools and grassroots programmes to elite international competition.
