Municipalities Minister Visits Mara'ee 2025 Exhibition

The Minister of Municipalities Affairs and Agriculture, Eng. Wael bin Nasser Al Mubarak, visited the Bahrain International Exhibition “Mara'ee ”, held under the patronage of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa. The visit was attended by Undersecretary for Municipal Affairs Eng. Sheikh Mohammed bin Ahmed Al Khalifa and Undersecretary for Agriculture and Animal Resources Eng. Asim Abdul Latif Abdullah.

During the tour, the minister visited various pavilions and met with farmers, livestock breeders, and representatives of participating companies and institutions. He reviewed the latest agricultural and livestock initiatives and projects showcased at the exhibition.

The visit also included the Bahrain Mangroves Exhibition, which highlights national efforts to quadruple the number of mangrove trees by 2035. The exhibition also presented the national afforestation plan aimed at increasing the number of trees in Bahrain from 1.8 million to 3.6 million by 2035. On the occasion, the minister honoured the winners of the Mangrove Photography Competition.

The competition attracted wide participation, with 286 photos submitted showcasing the beauty and environmental value of Bahrain’s mangrove areas. The entries were evaluated by a judging panel comprising specialists from the Gulf University, the Ministry of Municipalities Affairs and Agriculture, and professional photographers. Five winning photos were selected.

First place was awarded to Rabab Isa Foulath, followed by Jassim Madan Ahmed in second place and Hani Ali Badr in third. Zakaria Abdulrasool secured fourth place, while Ali Mustafa Jaafar came fifth.

The minister praised the high quality of the submitted works, noting that such initiatives help raise environmental awareness and strengthen community participation.

Al Mubarak also stressed the importance of Gulf and international participation in Maraei 2025, stating that the current edition supports Bahrain’s national food security goals. He expressed pride in the strong public turnout and wide engagement from all segments of society.

The tour further included a visit to the Maraei Art Exhibition and the Student Agricultural Innovation Tent, where the minister met participating students and reviewed their innovative projects aimed at supporting the sustainability and development of the agricultural sector.

At the conclusion of the visit, the minister honoured the winning schools in the agricultural innovation competitions, commending their efforts in promoting agricultural awareness among students. The honoured schools included Bayan Bahrain School, Zainab Intermediate Girls School, Riffa Views International School, Al Naseem International School, Um Salama Intermediate Secondary Girls School, Modern Knowledge School, Sheikh Khalifa bin Salman Institute of Technology, Diraz Intermediate Girls School, Al Istiqlal Secondary Girls School, and Saar Secondary Girls School.
