Bahrain Calls for Expanded GCC Cooperation with BRICS Countries
Representing His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa, His Excellency Dr. Abdullatif bin Rashid Al Zayani, Minister of Foreign Affairs, participated in the expanded dialogue session of the 18th BRICS Summit in New Delhi, India.
Held under the theme “Resilience, Innovation, Cooperation, and Sustainability,” the session was chaired by Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi and brought together leaders, government officials and foreign ministers from BRICS member states, partner countries and invited nations.
During his address, Dr. Al Zayani conveyed the greetings of His Majesty the King and his wishes for the summit’s success. He also expressed Bahrain’s appreciation to India for its hospitality and for hosting the summit.
The Foreign Minister highlighted the deep-rooted relations between GCC countries and BRICS members, pointing to existing cooperation in areas including energy, digital connectivity, food security and logistics.
He said opportunities for practical cooperation are expanding in fields such as the digital economy, financial technology, artificial intelligence, clean energy technologies and food supply chains.
Dr. Al Zayani emphasised that strengthening these partnerships can help turn dialogue into practical outcomes, including greater mutual investment and benefits for people across GCC countries and the wider Global South.
