Information & eGovernment Authority (iGA) Chief Executive Mohammed Ali Al Qaed met with His Excellency Eng. Ahmed bin Mohammed Alsuwaiyan, Governor of Saudi Arabia’s Digital Government Authority (DGA), on the sidelines of the 13th meeting of the Permanent Committee for Statistical Work held in Riyadh.
During the meeting, Al Qaed highlighted the importance of strengthening cooperation among Gulf countries in digital transformation and developing shared technological infrastructure across the GCC. He noted the region’s strong progress in building advanced digital ecosystems and adopting modern technologies to improve the quality of government services for citizens.
Al Qaed stressed the need for continued coordination, exchange of expertise, and integration of digital initiatives among Gulf states to support future readiness and maintain regional and global leadership. He also praised the close cooperation between Bahrain and Saudi Arabia, particularly in the ICT sector, describing it as a key pillar of both countries’ national strategies to enhance digital transformation and government services.
He commended Saudi Arabia for its significant achievements in digital transformation, including the use of advanced technologies and artificial intelligence, noting that the Kingdom’s hosting of specialized digital events reflects its leadership in the region.
The meeting discussed potential areas of collaboration, especially in digital identity systems, integration between government digital platforms, alignment of regulatory frameworks, and joint coordination to support digital government services, innovation, and the adoption of AI in the public sector.
On the sidelines of the meeting, Al Qaed visited the DGA’s Innovation Hub, where he was briefed on its specialized laboratories and platforms that support government entities in developing smart digital solutions and adopting emerging technologies and artificial intelligence.
