India Condemns Attack on Vessel Off Oman
India has condemned the attack on the commercial vessel MT El Gaia off the coast of Oman, saying 13 of the 14 Indian crew members onboard have been rescued.
In a statement issued on September 13, India’s Ministry of External Affairs said search and rescue operations were continuing for the missing Indian national. The Indian Embassy in Oman is closely monitoring the situation and coordinating with Omani authorities, while New Delhi thanked Oman for its support in rescuing the Indian nationals.
India also called for the immediate de-escalation of tensions and urged all sides to pursue dialogue and diplomacy to restore peace in the region. It condemned attacks targeting commercial shipping, seafarers, civilians and civilian infrastructure, and called for the earliest restoration of free and safe navigation and the flow of commerce through international waterways in the region.
