As part of the visit, HE Dr. Al Khalifa also signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between Bahrain’s Ministry of Transportation and Telecommunications and the UK’s Department for Business and Trade and Department for Transport. The MoU was signed on the UK side by Chris MacDonald, Minister for Industry at the Department for Business and Trade, and Lord Peter Hendy, Rail Minister at the Department for Transport.
The agreement sets out a comprehensive framework for cooperation in key areas related to smart and sustainable transport. This includes the development of modern transport modes, enhancing the efficiency of public transport systems, strengthening partnerships in maritime and aviation sectors, and adopting advanced technologies that promote sustainability and reduce emissions.
The MoU also covers knowledge exchange and capacity-building through joint training programs and specialized workshops, aiming to support talent development and strengthen national expertise in planning, implementing, and managing advanced transport projects.
