HRH the Crown Prince: National Press Key to Development and Progress
His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Crown Prince and Prime Minister, affirmed that Bahrain’s national press is a cornerstone in supporting the Kingdom’s development and progress. He highlighted its vital role in conveying responsible journalism and showcasing national achievements that reflect Bahrain’s ongoing advancement under the leadership of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa, the King of Bahrain.
His Royal Highness noted that the dedication of Bahraini journalists and media professionals reflects their strong national commitment and deep sense of responsibility toward their country and society. He praised their professionalism, credibility, and objectivity in addressing key issues and delivering constructive messages that contribute to the nation’s development.
This came as His Royal Highness received today, at Al Riffa Palace, the Chairman of the Bahrain Journalists Association, Mr. Isa Al Shaiji, and members of the Board of Directors, in the presence of His Highness Shaikh Isa bin Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, Minister of Cabinet Affairs, His Highness Shaikh Mohammed bin Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, His Excellency Shaikh Salman bin Khalifa Al Khalifa, Minister of Finance and National Economy, and a number of senior officials. The meeting marked the occasion of the issuance of the Press and Electronic Media Law.
The delegation expressed their appreciation to His Royal Highness for his support and follow-up that contributed to the adoption of the new law, ratified by His Majesty the King. They noted that the legislation represents a significant step in advancing Bahrain’s media sector and strengthening its legal and institutional framework.
His Royal Highness emphasized that the new law reflects Bahrain’s commitment to enhancing the legislative environment that supports the growth of the media sector in line with modern requirements and future aspirations. He added that the law continues the Kingdom’s path of reform and development under His Majesty’s leadership, aimed at consolidating the rule of law, institutional governance, and freedom of opinion and expression.
His Royal Highness also commended the dedication and professionalism of Bahraini journalists, describing their contributions as an expression of loyalty and national belonging. He praised the long-standing legacy of Bahraini journalism, the pioneering efforts of its founders, and the creative national talents that continue to enrich the country’s media landscape, strengthen its identity, and elevate its standing.
For his part, the Chairman of the Bahrain Journalists Association expressed his sincere gratitude to His Royal Highness the Crown Prince and Prime Minister for his ongoing support and directives to advance national journalism, noting that his encouragement serves as a strong motivation for the sector to continue its efforts toward Bahrain’s continued progress and prosperity.
