In a bid to foster creativity and technological thinking among Bahraini youth, the Secretary-General of the Shura Council, Ms. Karima Mohammed Al Abbasi, announced that ten innovative digital projects have qualified for the final round of the Digital Innovation in Parliamentary Work Competition.
Launched by the Shura Council’s General Secretariat in collaboration with the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Bahrain Polytechnic, the competition coincided with Bahraini Youth Day 2025.
Ms. Al Abbasi highlighted that since its launch on March 25 this year, the competition has attracted 48 applications from individuals and groups. After multiple evaluation stages designed to select the most impactful and creative digital ideas, 35 projects advanced to the initial rounds, which included direct presentations to the judging panel. The top 10 finalists were chosen by a committee comprising experts from the Shura Council, the Ministry of Youth Affairs, and representatives from the private sector. Winners of the top three positions will be announced in the coming weeks.
The Secretary-General emphasized that the competition reflects the Council’s ongoing efforts to support its digital transformation strategy and aligns with the vision of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa to invest in youth and foster innovation in science and technology. She noted that the initiative also reinforces the Shura Council’s commitment, under the leadership of its Chairman, H.E. Ali bin Saleh Al Saleh, to empower young Bahrainis and engage them in the ongoing digital and parliamentary development process in line with the Sustainable Development Goals and Bahrain’s Economic Vision 2030.
Ms. Al Abbasi added that the General Secretariat remains committed to supporting innovative initiatives that enhance institutional efficiency and modernize parliamentary work through collaboration with key partners. She noted that the competition has successfully uncovered promising young talents and pioneering digital ideas capable of shaping the future of Bahrain’s parliamentary ecosystem.
