Municipalities and Agriculture Ministry Allocates Six Agricultural Plots to Bahraini Farmers

The Ministry of Municipalities Affairs and Agriculture has signed agreements to allocate six agricultural plots to Bahraini farmers in the Hoorat A’ali area, with a total area of 40,138.20 square meters. The signing ceremony was held in the presence of H.E. Eng. Wael bin Nasser Al Mubarak, Minister of Municipalities Affairs and Agriculture, and H.H. Shaikha Maram bint Isa Al Khalifa, Secretary-General of the National Initiative for Agricultural Development (NIAD).

The agreements were signed by Eng. Asim Abdulatif Abdullah, Undersecretary for Agriculture and Marine Resources, on behalf of the Ministry, with six Bahraini farmers. The allocated plots, ranging from 5,000 to 7,000 square meters each, were offered through a public tender on the Government Land Investment Platform. The initiative, dedicated exclusively to Bahraini farmers, includes 10-year contracts with a one-year grace period to allow farmers to establish and equip their agricultural facilities.

H.E. Minister Al Mubarak affirmed that this initiative aligns with the visions and aspirations of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa, the King of Bahrain, to enhance national food security and develop the agricultural sector. It also implements the directives of His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Crown Prince and Prime Minister, to support and empower Bahraini farmers to continue production and remain competitive.

The Minister also commended the interest and support of Her Royal Highness Princess Sabeeka bint Ibrahim Al Khalifa, Wife of His Majesty the King and Chairperson of the Advisory Council of NIAD, whose dedication to advancing the agricultural sector and supporting its workforce contributes significantly to the sustainability of agriculture in the Kingdom.

He added that the Ministry is working to provide these plots with essential infrastructure services, including treated and desalinated water and irrigation networks. This initiative, he noted, is part of the Ministry’s strategy to expand sustainable agricultural activity and increase the efficiency of local crop production, thereby strengthening Bahrain’s food security system.
