Shura members kept all five standing committee chairs and made one change to a vice-chair post, before choosing new names for the Parliamentary Group’s Executive Committee.

Khalid Al Maskati stays as Chair of the Committee on Financial and Economic Affairs; Dalal Al Zayed remains at Legislative and Legal Affairs; Dr Ali Al Rumaihi continues at Foreign Affairs; Dr Jameela Al Salman keeps Services; and Dr Mohammed Ali Hassan stays at Public Utilities and the Environment.

Renewal

Subcommittee chairs were also renewed. Redha Monfaradi continues to lead the Youth Committee, Ejlal Bubshait remains at Women and Child Affairs, and Dr Mohammed Al Khuzai stays at Human Rights.

There was only one switch amongst vice-chairs across the main and subcommittees.

The main committee deputies are Redha Abdulla Faraj at Financial and Economic Affairs, Adel Al Moawda at Legislative and Legal Affairs, Shaikh Ahmed bin Mohammed bin Ali Al Khalifa at Foreign Affairs, Talal Al Mannai at Services, and Juma Mohammed Al Kaabi at Public Utilities and the Environment.

On the subcommittee side, the single change came at Women and Child Affairs, where Lina Qassim was chosen as Vice-Chair.

Hisham Al Qassab was returned as Vice-Chair of the Youth Committee and Ali Al Shehabi at Human Rights.

Members then elected the Executive Committee of the Parliamentary Group. Five stood: First Deputy Chairman Jamal Fakhro, Redha Monfaradi, Ali Al Shehabi, Ali Al Haddad and Dr Mohammed Al Khuzai.

Of 32 votes cast, Ali Al Shehabi topped the poll with 30, followed by Jamal Fakhro on 29, Redha Monfaradi on 26 and Ali Al Haddad on 22. Dr Mohammed Al Khuzai fell short and left the race.

Letters

The Council also reviewed letters from His Excellency Shaikh Khalid bin Abdulla Al Khalifa, Deputy Prime Minister, that included several decree-laws.

Members also agreed, on a proposal from the Council’s Bureau, to form the committee that will prepare the draft reply to the Royal Address, choosing First Deputy Chairman Jamal Fakhro as its Chair by acclamation.
