Indian Diaspora in Bahrain Joins Global Call for 'Viksit Bharat' with Community Run
The Indian Embassy in Bahrain, in collaboration with MY Bharat (under the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports, Government of India), successfully hosted the Viksit Bharat Run on September 26, 2025, drawing enthusiastic participation from the local Indian diaspora.
Held as a key event during the Seva Pakhwada (September 17 – October 2), the run symbolized the community's commitment to Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi's vision of a developed India by 2047. The theme, “Run to Serve the Nation,” underscored the transformative progress India has made in sectors like technology, infrastructure, and healthcare.
The event brought together around 200 runners from five different community groups and organizations for a collective 3-kilometre run. More than just a fitness activity, the run served as a powerful statement celebrating the ideals of Seva Bhav (spirit of service) and aligning the diaspora with the vision of Viksit Bharat @ 2047.
A high point of the event was the collective recitation of the Viksit Bharat and Aatmanirbhar Bharat Pledge, where participants committed to actively contributing to India’s journey toward becoming a self-reliant and developed nation. This gesture reinforced a shared aspiration for growth and global leadership, connecting the community in Bahrain with Indians worldwide.
The turnout was bolstered by the active participation of several prominent organizations, including Samskruthi Bahrain, Bahrain India Culture and Arts Services (BICAS), Bahrain Chapter of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of India (BCICAI), Telugu Kala Samithi (TKS), and various physical education teachers from local schools.
Adding a green element to the week's activities, the Embassy also embraced the “Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam” campaign earlier in the month. On September 15, 2025, Ambassador H.E. Mr. Vinod K. Jacob planted a neem sapling, a symbolic act honouring loved ones and highlighting the critical link between personal responsibility and environmental sustainability. This campaign served as a reminder of India’s dedication to building a greener planet.
The Viksit Bharat Run 2025 reinforced the spirit of Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam—"the world is one family"—and showcased India’s strong cultural and developmental strides on a global platform. It served as a critical platform for diaspora engagement and youth mobilization, carrying a strong message of unity, resilience, and shared responsibility.
