Bahrain Launches University Admission Tests for Inmates

The Ministry of Interior announced that the General Directorate of Reform and Rehabilitation, in collaboration with the Higher Education Council, has organized university admission tests for inmates wishing to continue their higher education. The tests were conducted according to approved academic procedures and supervised directly by a specialized team from Bahrain Polytechnic. This initiative reflects the Directorate’s commitment to upholding human rights, including the right to education.
Brigadier General Adnan Juma’a Bahr, Director General of the General Directorate of Reform and Rehabilitation, said the measures are part of a series of educational and training programs aimed at academically and professionally supporting inmates. He emphasized the Directorate’s efforts to provide all means for inmates to earn university qualifications, enhancing their skills and improving their opportunities for social reintegration after completing their sentences.
In a related development, a delegation from the National Institution for Human Rights and the Secretariat General for Grievances visited the Reform and Rehabilitation Center to observe the exams and assess the conditions of participating inmates. The delegation praised the Ministry of Interior for its continuous support in enabling inmates to pursue higher education.
