Five men were convicted in a ‘CBD’ drugs case, with sentences ranging from exemption to life in prison.

The First High Criminal Court ordered the seizure of all items taken in the case and ruled that the second defendant be deported from the Kingdom.

The court sentenced the first defendant to three years in prison and a fine of BD1,000 for drug use, and also exempted him from punishment.

Fines

The second and third defendants each received 10 years and fines of BD5,000.

The fourth defendant was exempted from the trafficking charge. The fifth defendant was given life imprisonment and fined BD5,000.

A captain with the Anti-Narcotics Directorate said secret information pointed to the first defendant holding narcotic drugs and psychotropic substances for trade and for his own use, and that he was promoting ‘CBD’.

Warrant of arrest

The Public Prosecution issued a warrant for his arrest and an order to search his home. The first defendant was detained by the second witness.

He said he bought the drugs from the second defendant and had agreed to pay 40 dinars for ‘CBD’.

With the witness listening and supervising the call, a meeting was set in Juffair. The second defendant was arrested there, searched, and his home was also searched.
