The Second Major Criminal Court of Appeal rendered its ruling yesterday afternoon, accepting the appeal in form but dismissing it in substance. The initial judgment was upheld, sentencing the accused to one year’s imprisonment with enforcement, imposing a fine of 200 Bahraini dinars, ordering the confiscation of the mobile phones used to commit the crime, and permanently deporting her from the country.
The ruling was issued following her execution of indecent acts in front of her social media followers, actions deemed contrary to prevailing societal values and customs.
Case details: The prosecution received a report from the Cybercrime Department within the General Department for Anti-Corruption and Economic and Electronic Security at the Ministry of Interior, indicating that a publicly accessible social media account belonging to the accused featured her in indecent postures and disseminated content contravening public morality and community norms. Based on this, the public prosecutor issued an order for her arrest. Following her apprehension, she was interrogated and confronted with the clips depicting the offense, to which she confessed. She was remanded in custody pending investigation, her mobile phone used in the commission of the offense was seized, and she was subsequently referred to the competent criminal court while in detention.
