Bahrain Condemns Houthi Attack on Najran

Shura Council Chairman Ali bin Saleh Al Saleh has strongly condemned the Houthi militia’s attack on civilian facilities and properties in Saudi Arabia’s Najran region, describing it as a dangerous escalation and a blatant violation of international law.

In a cable sent to Sheikh Dr Abdullah bin Mohammed bin Ibrahim Al Al-Sheikh, Chairman of the Shura Council of Saudi Arabia, Al Saleh expressed Bahrain’s full solidarity with Saudi Arabia and reaffirmed the Kingdom’s firm support for measures taken to safeguard its sovereignty, security and stability.

He also expressed Bahrain’s support for efforts to protect Saudi citizens and civilian and vital facilities, while wishing a speedy recovery to those injured in the attack.

Al Saleh said the attack, carried out by the Iran-backed Houthi militia using indiscriminate projectiles, resulted in injuries to a number of innocent civilians. He stressed that targeting civilians and vital facilities contravenes international laws and conventions and threatens regional security and peace.

The Shura Council Chairman called on the international community to assume its responsibilities and adopt a firm stance against repeated terrorist attacks, including holding the Houthi militia accountable and cutting off its sources of funding and arms.

He also praised Saudi Arabia’s diplomatic, humanitarian and development efforts, as well as its continued efforts to reach a comprehensive and lasting political solution to the Yemen crisis.

Al Saleh said such efforts seek to preserve Yemen’s unity, sovereignty and territorial integrity and meet the aspirations of its people for security, stability and sustainable prosperity, in accordance with the Gulf Initiative and its Implementation Mechanism, the outcomes of the National Dialogue Conference and relevant UN Security Council resolutions.
